REFRACTIVE AND OTHER SURGICAL EXPERIENCE
Immediately after starting his residency in Ophthalmology, Dr. Kang had special interest
in the anterior segment and refractive surgery. During his fellowship in cornea and
refractive surgery at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he was involved in wide
range of treatment for refractive errors including LASIK, PRK, AK (Astigmatic Keratotomy),
Lensectomy, Cataract surgery and wedge resection. He had an extensive experience in
managing the highly complex cases & complications related the refractive and anterior
segment surgeries referred by the other ophthalmologist or institutions. He was one of the
few surgeons to perform the many limbal cell allograft with corneal transplantation for
treating the severely damaged cornea from chemical injury. |

He was also involved in Clinic research with
Ming Wang, MD, PHD, who is ophthalmologist as well as laser
physicist. He published the papers as well as made presentations at the
ophthalmology national and local meetings. He was also a speaker and instructor of refractive surgery update meetings and
LASIK certification course.

PERSONAL
Dr. Kang was born and raised in Seoul, KOREA. He moved to the USA to expand his
training. While he was working at the Eye & Ear Hospital in Pittsburgh as an
Anesthesiologist, he decided to pursue his career in the ophthalmology. He donates his
time at community groups to do eye screening examination during his spare time. His
special interests are photography, computer graphics, travel and listening to any kind of
music except rap He loves to spent time with his family.
